A Winter Day at Glaumbær
Have you ever wondered what it was like growing up in a 19th century turf farm? A Winter Day at Glaumbær is the sequel to the book, A Summer Day at Glaumbær. In this delightfully illustrated story, we follow Jóhanna, Siggi and the farm dog Ysja as they prepare for Christmas. The book is published in four different languages.
A Winter Day at Glaumbær is a historical fiction for children and adults alike. The story gives an insight into the life of children in Iceland in the second half of the 19th century. Despite the story being set only around 140 years ago, people's daily lives have changed drastically since then, and there is very little that compares to modern life. However, some things never change - family bonds, the need for security, friendship, good times and laughter, and last but not least the joy of letting ones imagination run free.
The story is set at the affluent vicarage of Glaumbær in Skagafjörður. The story is inspired by real people who lived in Glaumbær and Skagafjörður during the 19th century.
The book is published in Icelandic, English, French and German.
